DIY Vintage Button Ornament

How to make a Vintage Button Ornament #trimyourtree

Hi friends! I’m Kendall from Songbirds & Buttons, friends and VA for Kimberly here at A Night Owl, and today I’m sharing with you a DIY Vintage Button Ornament to finish out the Trim Your Tree series! A few years ago I came across a bag full of vintage buttons at a thrift store. I’ve been using them for odd projects here and there – I just think they are so beautiful. I wanted to use them to make a keepsake of some sort, and with Christmas just around the corner – I couldn’t think of a better reason.

What you’ll need:

  • Buttons
  • Baker’s Twine
  • A little bit of time!

And the steps:

  • It’s so simple! Just string the buttons onto your bakers twine and when you have a decent number of buttons on (I used around 40) just tie the twine to create the circle.
  • After the ornament was completed I added on a small bow using the bakers twine – a small little detail that makes a huge difference!
