Thank you to DecoArt for sponsoring this 3D Art with Americana Writer project.
Hi friends! Today we’re talking about some updated 3D Art with DecoArt’s Americana Writer! Have you ever had a picture or a piece of art that you just couldn’t bring yourself to get rid of, but it needed a little update? I did! I have had this fab little Paris print from World Market from years ago. It was in my kitchen when I lived on my own, and now that I’m in a house full of boys it resides in my office/craft room! But lately I’ve been thinking of doing something different with it. Just a little update. I had thoughts of covering it with chalkboard paint (oh how I’ve done that to so many of my frames and surfaces in our home), but just couldn’t bring myself to cover up that pretty Eiffel Tower! So there it sat…
Until a few weeks ago I thought, how fun would it be to somehow enhance the Eiffel Tower in the print? So I searched through my DecoArt paint collection for the perfect paint that would work on top of the glass in the frame. And I after testing out a few on a test plate, I came up with my conclusion – the Americana Writer would be perfect!
The Americana Writer is easy to use! It’s narrow tip is perfect for drawing lines and intricate shapes. And the paint really holds up and dries into a great raised line if left that way. So I got to work! I cleaned the surface of the glass with rubbing alcohol, soap and water for prep. Once dry I simply used the Americana Writer in black to trace some of the lines of the tower and the landscape below.
Once I was happy with the coverage I simply let it dry flat then once it was done it took a trip back to my office!
Such a fun before and after, don’t you think?
I think it just adds a little fun and dimension as 3D art. It almost feels like a new piece in my space. And anytime you can do that with just a few dollars you’re golden right? So I would encourage you to give Americana Glass Paints a try! Americana Glass Paints are available at Michaels, JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores, Pat Catan’s Craft Centers, A.C.
