{Giveaway} Taylor and Stylist

Tailor and Stylist Review and Giveaway

Hi friends, Jen here and boy do I have a treat for you today! I recently was introduced to an online boutique called Taylor and Stylist and their line Clothing, Shoes, Purses and Accessories is just fabulous. I am crushing on so many items. Here are some of my faves and believe me, there are plenty more so go check them out.

Yellow Ribbon Flats
Lady Lace Mustard Blazer
Kensington Wool Bow Hat
Delightful Dots Chambray Sundress

After much deliberation I finally settled on a couple of items for review. And I wanted to show you the fun pieces I’ve been incorporating into my wardrobe as liberally as possible. Meet my new Flattering Fleece Pea Coat in Navy and Quilted Buckle Beauty Gray flats. Don’t you love them?

Luckily there was a cold front a few weeks ago and I was really able to wear my coat but since it’s warming up in Phoenix these days it may have to go into the closet for next winter. As much as I love it, I’m totally okay with that because this jacket is timeless, I can see myself still wearing it in 10 years! This coat is, as the name suggests, very flattering. The fleece is very soft and cozy while still looking very put together, which as a busy full time working mama (out of the house) I love.

And the gray flats…they have already seen a ton of use and have quickly became one of my favorite pair of shoes. They are stylish, yet comfortable and the perfect shade of gray so they match tons of things I already own.

So here’s how I styled them, I wore some skinny jeans (Kohl’s) and added a white scarf (Old Navy) and a yellow bag (Goodwill) as a pop of color. I feel like the look comes off as casual but still super cute!

Tailor & Stylist Review and GiveawayDisclosure: I received product for review; however, all opinions stated here are my own.

{Late Night Snack} Easy Cake Pops

Hi friends, Jen here to share with you this February’s (by the skin of my teeth) Late Night Snack! I thought I’d change things up from the usual cupcakes I make and share with you how to make cake pops with a box of cake, can of frosting, and melted chocolate!

I recently made a batch of these as bridal shower favors and everyone raved about them! Although they are easy, they are also a bit of a process so I would start a few days before you plan on serving. In my case I baked the cake Wednesday evening, crumbled and formed into cake balls on Thursday evening and dipped in chocolate and packaged up on Friday evening. That was the perfect amount of time for me to be able to give them away on Saturday morning. I promise you these little babies are worth the hassle and if you had to you could totally make them in the same day if you needed just be sure to start them early to allow cooling time in between steps.

Cake pops that everyone will love!
Ingredients
  • 1 box of cake mix, flavor of choice (oil, egg, water as the mix calls for)
  • 1 can of frosting flavor of choice
  • 2 bags of chocolate chips or 3 bags of candy melts
  • candy sticks (I used paper straws)
  • sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
  1. Bake cake per package directions and let cool.
  2. Once cooled, take a fork to it and crumble it up.
  3. Microwave can of frosting in 30 second increments until it’s liquid.
  4. pour into crumble cake and combine well.
  5. Roll mixture into cake ball size and shape, place onto a pan covered in wax paper.
  6. Dip cake pop stick into melted chocolate and push into the formed cake ball.
  7. Refrigerate formed cake balls until firm. (I refrigerated overnight)
  8. Melt chocolate chips or candy melts in 30 second increments until melted.
  9. Dip cake balls into chocolate and place back onto the wax paper until firm.
  10. Once the chocolate firms up, wrap up to gift or sit back and enjoy!

So what do you think, would you venture to make a batch of these yourself? What flavor combination would you use?

So I thought with all the bacon infused treats out there lately that I would give in to the fad and give it a try as well!

Another fun twist that we enjoyed was using stout beer in place of the water. The alcohol cooks out and I felt like it made the cake such a nice texture. Well I hope you give this tasty recipe a try! The man in your life will surely appreciate you making him this salty/sweet treat!

{Trim Your Tree} DIY Snowflake Ornament

DIY Toilet Paper Roll Glitter Snowflake Ornament at @anightowlblog

Hi friends! Have you all seen the pins going around on Pinterest of the wall art made out of toilet paper tubes? I thought is was a pretty nifty idea… so when Kimberly asked me if I wanted to share a DIY ornament, the idea the idea popped into my head to make it using toilet paper tubes! Being that practically everyone uses toilet paper this craft is super inexpensive. If you have a glitter and ribbon stash like I do, this craft is free! Also, if you have little ones that like to craft this is a fun and inexpensive one for them to make for teachers, grandparents, and friends. I could also see adding these to wrapped presents instead of a bow.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 toilet paper roll tubes
  • Scissors
  • Glitter
  • Glue
  • 2 paper plates
  • Ribbon to hang
  • Paint (optional)

And the steps:

  • Cut toilet paper tubes into about 3/4in sections
  • Arrange pieces into the shape you want and glue
  • Add glue to the edges (be careful it doesn’t drip)
  • Cover glue in glitter
  • Let dry, than add a ribbon and hang

{Friday Fancies} Football Frenzy

I was so excited for this week’s theme. I mean, Kimberly and I are both NFL fans. I think she has like 3 fantasy teams; I’m more of a pick ‘em gal! So welcome to the Football Frenzy version of Friday Fancies! If you didn’t already know, my husband’s name is Dallas…as in the Dallas Cowboys! Yup, the guy is a fanatic! So this week’s theme was super easy for me, good ‘ol blue, gray and white! I’m sure Kimberly is not too excited about this set seeing as she doesn’t like the Cowboys. At all. Not even a little.

If it’s Sunday I want to be comfy watching the game, so no fancy heels, chucks all the way. But I still like my flair. Those earrings with the little bit of bling and the team reppin’ are SO me!

Go Cowboys!

{Friday Fancies} Summer Sunset

Welcome to this weeks Friday Fancies! When I was putting this weeks look together I decided to imagine the girl wearing it. The girl I imagined is tall, tan, and has long dark hair (so she pretty much looks nothing like me). She’s on vacation with her boyfriend at a resort overlooking the ocean. In this adorable and sexy outfit her and her boyfriend will walk to the beach to check out the sunset. He’ll carry her shoes as they walk along the waves. When they come back they will be engaged…

{Late Night Snack} Pink Lemonade Cupcakes

Pink Lemonade Cupcakes

We’re introducing a new series here for all you Night Owls called “Late Night Snack“! Our contributor Jen will be posting a monthly yummy recipe for those late night cravings, and here is the first installment: Pink Lemonade Cupcakes!

Living in sunny AZ means dealing with the heat…A LOT!!  There are few things more refreshing than an ice cold glass of Pink Lemonade on a hot summer day! Knowing that for a lot of people August marks the end of summer (although it’ll still be warm here until October) I thought it’d be nice to give the summer a proper goodbye with some delicious [and simple] pink lemonade cupcakes!

I’m a busy momma so I don’t usually make a lot of things from scratch especially cake and frosting..I’m more about tweaking things to make them fun and unique.. A reci-tweak :)

Delicious and refreshing pink lemonade cupcakes.
Ingredients
  • 1- box white cake mix
  • 3-egg whites
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 can vanilla frosting
  • 1 packet pink lemonade KoolAid
  • Red food coloring (opt)
  • [Yep, KoolAid! This powder is so concentrated it doesn't take much to get that delicious tart lemonade flavor! Imagine all the possibilities with the other flavors.]
Instructions
  1. Make the cake mix according to the directions on the box (mine called for egg whites, water, and vegetable oil) then add all but ¾ teaspoon of the KoolAid powder. Be sure to use a hand mixer to get the batter super smooth!
  2. If you want your cake to appear more pink, you’ll also need to drop in a dot of food coloring, it doesn’t take much to get a great pink color!
  3. Put the cupcakes in the oven per the package directions and remove and cool.
  4. While the cupcakes are baking, start stirring up your frosting. Add the ¾ teaspoon of KoolAid and mix into the frosting (you can put in less or more depending on how tart you’d like it)
  5. And that’s it! You’ve turned a simple white box cake and canned vanilla frosting into a delicious and refreshing treat!

What a sweet end of summer cupcake! Do you have any fun end of summer traditions?
