Mirassou Wine Tasting at #BBCPHX

Mirassou Wine Tasting { www.mirassou.com } Hi friends! Earlier today I shared my awesome experience at Bloggy Bootcamp Phoenix! In that post I mentioned that I had the amazing opportunity to wine and dine with one of the #BBCPHX sponsors, Mirassou Winery! The folks at Mirassou invited us to the Graze Desert Grille at the Zona Hotel & Suites.

Mirassou Wine Tasting { www.mirassou.com } Executive Chef Keith Osmundson worked with the folks at Mirassou to put together amazing wine pairings to bring out the best in the Mirassou line.

  • First Course: Grilled firecracker shrimp with avocado cream paired with Mirassou Sauvignon Blanc
  • Second Course: Pacific Rim braised pork belly with a ginger soy glaze paired with Mirassou Chardonnay
  • Third Course: Southwestern grilled chicken ravioli with a duet of red and white wine sauces paired with Mirassou Pinot Grigio
  • Fourth Course: Beet jam crostini with fig & goat cheese and balsamic reduction paired with Mirassou Sunset Red
  • Dessert Course: Triple chocolate cake with ghost chile chocolate cream paired with Mirassou Cabernet Sauvignon

It was all so delicious! The pairings were amazing and each course brought out the flavors in the different wines. Now, I’m not a big drinker, but I’ll enjoy a glass of wine, sangria or a margarita here and there. But I was just saying the week before I went to the Mirassou dinner that I could no longer drink red wine, that it was just too strong and bitter to me. However, I have to say after trying the Mirassou reds, I’m transformed! Their wines, even the red, are smooth and approachable. In fact, I liked the reds more than the white! I think my favorite overall is the Mirassou Pinot Noir, but I think my favorite pairing was the dessert course of  the triple chocolate cake with ghost chile chocolate cream with the Mirassou Cabernet Sauvignon. Yum!

I have to say, and not just because I had a night of free wine and food, that I am truly a Mirassou believer! It may just be the only wine we have on hand from now on! If you’re interested in learning more, please head over to Mirassou.com! They have a wealth of information online, including a store locator, wine education, food & wine recipes and more! The Mirassou family also has an amazing story of starting and developing the winery over six generations! It really is a great history, and you can read more about it online as well! You can also find Mirassou on Facebook!

Mirassou Family of Wines

So head out and discover your favorite Mirassou today!

Disclosure: Mirassou treated us to dinner and drinks at the Graze restaurant, but all opinions are my own!

Bloggy Boot Camp Phoenix – A Recap #BBCPHX

Recap of #BBCPHX

Hi friends! If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you may have figured out last weekend that I attended Bloggy Boot Camp Phoenix, put on by the SITS girls! It was a great couple of days and we heard from some ahhh-mazing speakers! I attended Bloggy Boot Camp Vegas back in October and just what I learned from that one-day event let me know that I wanted to learn MORE. I’m not going to share all the info that I gleaned from this conference (otherwise why would you buy a ticket?), but here are a few tidbits of who spoke and what they shared…

    • Brands and PR by Missy Maher <– love her!
    • Building a Successful Business by Kim Buyers <– party gal!
    • Social Media Gigs by Kelly Tirman, Yuliya Patsay + Lizz Porter <– these gals rock
    • YouTube! Bethann Stenseth <– so cute!
    • Hiring and Delegating by Meagan Francis and Sarah Powers <– smart gals!
    • Legal by Kerry O’Shea Gorgone <– a lawyer we love
    • Sponsored Posts by Gigi Ross <– Gigi rocks!
    • Analytics & SEO by Casey Petersen <– great tips!
    • Social Media by Kelly Loubet <– want her job! ;)
    • Taking Stock of Your Life by Heather King <– made me cry!
    • Conference Speaking Circuit by Shannon Carroll <– sign me up!
    • Hell Yeah! by Danielle Smith and Tiffany Romero <– made me teary!

Does that sound like an amazing agenda? Well it WAS! Some of the topics were so on point for me, there were tears. Yes, good tears! If you’re thinking of attending a blog conference, especially centered around the business of blogging and learning I would HIGHLY with two-hands raised in the air recommend Bloggy Boot Camp.

Before I go, I have to give a few shoutouts. First, a HUGE thank you to DownEast Basics for sponsoring my BBCPHX wardrobe! You may have seen all the buzz on Instagram, but DownEast has some of the cutest clothes around! You can see what I wore here:
Down East Basics Blog Conference Wardrobe Vanishing Point Jacket in Vintage Indigo | Cultivating Top in Coral

Adorable, right? I’m in love with the pieces I got and can’t wait to go back for more bright, Summer clothes! Next, thank you to Minted for my fun new blog cards! I ordered the Wrapped in a Banner Business Cards from their site and I just love them.

Minted Business Cards
Next up, thank you to New Trent for keeping my Instagram and Twitter habits going during the conference! If you’ve been to a blog conference then you know you want to keep your phone powered up and the last thing you want to do is leave it on the floor in the corner of the room plugged into a wall outlet (trust me, I’ve been there). But this year I was good to go with my New Trent iTorch External Battery Charger! I was able to charge my phone a couple of times right from the convenience of my table!

Last, but NOT least, Friday night I was lucky enough to be wined and dined by the amazing BBC sponsor Mirassou Wines! I tell you ALL about it in my Mirassou Wine Tasting post, but for now let me just tell you the wine is amazing and you NEED to find some in your area! You won’t be disappointed!

{Blogger Event} Brookstone #BettertoGive

Hi friends! Today I’m sharing with you the latest and greatest new toys and gadgets that Brookstone has to offer! You may know Brookstone as that store in the mall with the awesome massage chairs! And it is! But they’re also so much more!

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you might have heard me chatting about #bettertogive last night. I had the awesome opportunity to check out our local Brookstone store at Scottsdale Fashion square with some of my good bloggy friends to see what FUN they have in store for this holiday season!

The Brookstone staff were all so knowledgable and friendly! They walked us through how to use each and every gadget. And in Brookstone, you’re encouraged to “push the buttons.” So fun! You get to try things out, yes even the massage chairs, and you don’t have to worry about getting kicked out. Such a fun shopping experience.

In our family we’re big fans of all things technology, so we were already fans of Brookstone before the event! But it was so fun to see their latest line of products. Here are a few of the things we got to check out that I thought you might be interested in as well…

1080p HDMI Pocket Projector
How fun would this be for family movie night?

Scanner Mouse
I think this speaks for itself, for all those who have scanned before!

Aero™ Wine Aerator by Brookstone
I hear this makes even cheap wine less bitter!

Mobile Mini Speaker
The sound on this thing was amazing!

Skywriter UFO
Ok, this one is for the guys. Who wouldn’t love a flying contraption?

All such fun and awesome products! And if you’re looking for gifts this holiday season that are a little friendlier to your wallet, Brookstone also has a large variety of products that would make great gifts for under $50! I know I found some items that are now on MY Christmas wish list!

Happy Shopping!

{Blogger Event} #BBCVegas :: A Recap

Hi friends! You may or may not know, but last weekend I hopped in the car with a couple of blog buddies and we took a road trip up to Las Vegas for Bloggy Boot Camp! If you follow me on Instagram, you surely had a feed full of my posts, of all the fun people I listened to and met! I had such a great time, I thought I’d do a quick recap of the event and certainly give a shout-out to the SITS Girls for putting on such a great event.

I won’t go into all the details (if you’re interested, you should go!), but here are the sessions I attended:

  • Tips for Blogging Success by Laurie Turk (@tipjunkie)
  • Blog Design with Cynthia Wheeler (@napwarden)
  • Gadgets and Apps with Trina Finton (@gamingangel)
  • Business of Blogging with Tiffany Romero (@tiffanyrom) and Gigi Ross (@kludgymom)
  • Authenticity with Elizabeth Jayne Liu (@ElizabethJLiu)

They were all GREAT sessions! Each woman has made her own place in the blog world and it was great to hear about their experiences and insight. Some of the other highlights were of course networking, meeting new friends, and meeting old friends (haha) in REAL life! Here are a few I connected with (not all, and please don’t be upset with me if I missed you!):

  • I made the road trip with my good friends Laura of Pink Cake Plate and Sara of Mom Endeavors!
  • We met our friend Sara of Clever Pink Pirate and her lovely mother there!
  • Always good to meet up with AZ friends Wendy of Choosing Love, Vanessa of See Vanessa Craft,  and met Tana of Your Marketing BFF and Erin of My Thirty Spot in person (so fun)!
  • I met blog buds Maribel of Stroller Adventures, Heather of Full Price Never, and Raquel of Organized Island
  • I also met a TON of new friends, some even local! There are way too many to list here, and I’m still working my way through all the bloggy cards I collected, but meeting new folks was one of my favorite parts!
  • And of course it was lovely to meet amazing ladies like Laurie Turk, Tiffany Romero, Cynthia Wheeler, and Elizabeth Jayne Liu in person!

Again, it was a great time! If you have a chance to make it to one of the SITS Girls conferences, I’d highly recommend it! And I’ll leave you today with a few of my Instagram snaps from the weekend…

{Blogger Event} The Glitter Academy :: Fall 2012

If you follow me on Instagram, then I’m sure you’re well aware by now that I went to a blogging/craft event on Friday evening: The Glitter Academy! I attended the Spring event back in March, which was my first event as a blogger. That event was amazing, and this was much the same! Over the past year I’ve met so many great local bloggers, really great gals, and it’s always amazing to meet in real life or to reconnect at these events. The hostesses, Jamielyn from I {heart} Naptime, Kristyn from Lil Luna, and Stephanie from Somewhat Simple did a fabulous job!

First the gals at Paging Super Mom put together the dessert table, which was ahhhhh-mazing! They made custom printables for the event, which you can download HERE!

Image via // Printables via Paging Super Mom

There were so many gals I got to connect with, let’s do a quick run down, shall we? Calling all West Valley gals! A group of us met up and carpooled/caravaned to the event: Laura of Pink Cake Plate, Sara of Mom Endeavors, Sara of Clever Pink Pirate, Vanessa of See Vanessa Craft, Cindy of Jenkins Kid Farm, and Kara of Mine for the Making. I met up with my girls at the party, ANO contributors Jen and Rachel of Just Us Three Design. Let’s see…now who else can I shoutout! My friend, Rebecca of The Crafted Sparrow, Mandy from Small Fine Print, Liz from Lizzie Jane Baby, Wendy from Choosing Love, Kelly and Kristi of Lolly Jane, and finally met Katie of Sweet Rose Studio! I also met some Instagram buddies IRL, can you believe it: Katie Wilson Hughes of Vintage Rose Wraps, Erin of Crafty Auntie and Trina of Hautala Couture! Last but not least, I met THEE Mandi of Vintage Revivals! She’s sweet and beautiful! Here are some snapshots I took during the night, if you missed them on IG:

It was a TON of fun if you didn’t gather from my Instagram spam. But thanks for bearing with me. And if you’re an AZ local, or want to come into town for the next event, be sure to follow along on The Glitter Academy Blog or Facebook page to keep up to date on events! Well, I can’t wait til the next event, but before I go let me give a HUGE thanks to the sponsors of the event. We got an amazing craft from Poppy Seed Projects and so many giveaway items from other sponsors, some listed here:

{Blogger Event} The AZ Pinterest Party

Yesterday I had the privilege of attending a fabulous and fun AZ Pinterest Party! This is the second one I’ve attended, put on by some lovely gals, and they’re just such a good time of food, socializing, crafting and giveaways! Our hosts were:

Heather of Brie Brie Blooms
Laura of Pink Cake Plate
Sara of Clever Pink Pirate

And not only did these gals pull together the party details, including location, agenda, and invitations, they also secured a TON of swag from some absolutely fabulous sponsors:

Itericom
Courtney from Pizzazzerie
Canvas Corp
DownEast Basics
GroopDealz
Label Thirteen
Song Kate Sang
Strawberry Monday
Pick Your Plum
Xyron
Cloreena from My Lazy Daisy
Sew Much Ado
Laura Gowen of Origami Owl

A huge thanks to all of the sponsors! We also had a great time exchanging Pinterest-inspired gifts. I made a small chalkboard tray, inspired by this Nest of Posies project and this Serving Tray project I did earlier this year.

We also snacked on Pinterest-inspired food! I created the ever famous Buffalo Chicken Dip. So yum! But there were other great treats and gifts there as well, and if you’d like to be inspired by the same pins, check out our Pinterest Board! And here’s a sneak peak into a Thrifty Thursday project coming soon to a blog near you…

Again, it was such a great time, captured by hashtag #azpinterestparty for some Insta-fun here (pictures courtesy of @anightowlblog, @songskatesang, @lizcall_13, @splendidmissm, @cleverpirate, @pinkcakeplate, @briebrieblooms & @craftyvanessa):

I’m already looking forward to the next event! I know that some of you local Arizona gals commented on Instagram that you’d like to attend the next event, and if that’s the case, come join us at the AZ Pinterest Party on Facebook to stay tuned in!

{Blogger Event} DownEast Basics Mixer

A couple of weeks ago I had the awesome privilege of attending a fun blogger event at DownEast Basics at the Arrowhead Mall in Glendale. If you don’t know about DownEast Basics yet, they’re a fast-growing leader of stylish and affordable women’s clothing. And though I had only seen their clothing and accessories online before the event, I’m happy to report that their store was chock full of bright, adorable and fun fashions!

They had everything from dresses to skirts to amazing tops, and a huge section of denim (which was a whopping 40% off)! Great colors, great prints, and lots of fun accessories to top it all off. I had a hard time deciding what I was going to go home with! As part of the event, we were provided with a $25 gift card to spend. How fun is that? So after trying a few things on, I ended up picking a cute boyfriend white and blue striped cardigan. Who doesn’t love a cute little cardigan? And since I’ve brought it home, let’s just say I’ve already worn it a number of times! Great quality and just so cute!

I also had a chance to see many of my local bloggy gal pals, my girls and A Night Owl contributors, Jen from Life According to the Streets and Rachel from Harding Happenings (in picture above). I also had time to chat with Jamielyn of I {heart} Naptime, Destiny of A Place for Us, Andrea of Worley House, Laura of Pink Cake Plate, Sarah of Clever Pink Pirate, Sarah of Mom Endeavors, Kelly of Eclectic Momsense, Vanessa of See Vanessa Craft, and got to meet one of my sponsors, Megan of Shaping Up to be a Mom! Such a fun evening and want to thank DownEast Basics for putting such a great event together!

West Valley Arizona Craft Event!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that last week I attended a fun little event called the West Valley Arizona Craft Event, or #wvazcraftevent! It was just a fun little gathering of bloggy, crafty gals in the Phoenix, AZ area to get together to work on some of their crafty projects!

And one of the most fun parts of the event, you know outside of meeting fantastic ladies, eating delicious food, and getting some pending projects DONE, was the fabulous SWAG! I didn’t even know we would be coming home with tons of goodies when I signed up, but here’s a run down…

  • Katie from Vintage Rose Wraps gave us each our own Vintage Rose Wrap!
  • Megan from Brassy Apple gave us each a certificate to download one of her gorgeous patterns!
  • The gals from Pick Your Plum sent over a box FULL of goodies – and I took home a beautiful box of colorful thread!
  • Quick Trip sent over coupons for free treats and drinks. You know I love their drink stations on hot Summer days!
  • Kim from TomKat Studios generously gave us berry baskets full of party goodies! Gumball tubes, treat cups, and adorable little spoons. So fun!
  • Jill from Plaid Crafts also sent over so many goodies that each participant got to take some home!
  • Lastly, Becki from Whippy Cake provided gift certificates won by two lucky participants!

A HUGE thank you to these sponsors for the goodies! And to Sarah of Clever Pink Pirate for hosting and Laura of Pink Cake Plate for acquiring the goods!

And here is an Instagram run-down of the event, courtesy of all the Instagram gals there:
Can’t wait for the next event! Are you in Phoenix or the West Valley?
Come join us next time!
