Sears Style - Ocean Inspired #ThisisStyle Feature

Hi friends! Are you gearing up for Summer? It’s time to update your wardrobe for some fun in the sun! What do your Summers look like? Do you spend time by the pool or at the ocean? This year, Sears has everything you need to look your best poolside, yes #ThisisStyle! What do you think of when you think of beach style? I think of large sunhats, long flowing dresses and gorgeous sandals. So this past weekend I set out to my local Sears to see what ocean-inspired beachwear I could find! You can checkout pictures from my shopping trip in my Google + album.

Before heading into the store I checked out the ShopYourWay Rewards app on my phone for deals and specials going on at Sears. ShopYourWay is an innovative shopping community built around your own social network. It empowers you to quickly find relevant product information, comments and recommendations from your friends. Also, if you use your ShopYourWay card, you also can earn rewards! You earn 10 Points for every $1.00 spent on qualifying purchases and can redeem those points at Kmart, Sears, Lands’ End, Sears Auto Centers, and mygofer. Then I headed into Sears! I had a great time shopping – guess what, kids free! Though the store is certainly kid-friendly, you know how nice it is as moms to just get some alone time, right? When I walked in the door, the store was bright and clean…and so much was on sale! I instantly saw how much I was going to save by shopping at Sears. I had a great time picking out cute, Summer styles and trying them on! But then I came across the Metaphor Women’s Maxi Dress – Scarf Print and I was in love!

Metaphor Women's Maxi Dress - Scarf Print #ThisisStyle

The dress is long and flowing, and the colors are perfect for Summer: teal, white and neutrals with a touch of sunshine! So I picked it up, along with some new capris and a lovely teal blouse and headed to the checkout. And of course I used my ShopYourWay card to rack up points towards more rewards!

Metaphor Women's Knit Eyelet Sweater #ThisisStyle

Now how would you style the lovely Metaphor maxi dress for a day at the beach or poolside? Here’s what I had in mind…

Long flowing dress, fun jeweled earrings and bracelet, large sunhat, and neutral bag and shoes. What do you think? I love the look! And all of those gorgeous pieces are from Sears! Now I was so excited about my new purchases that I decided to wear my dress out for Mother’s Day lunch this weekend. I started with the Sears Metaphor Maxi, added a light cardigan, some dangle earrings a wrap bracelet and metallic wedges.

My Sears Style - Ocean Inspired #ThisisStyle

And here it is all together! My Sears Style - Ocean Inspired #ThisisStyle I love the colors of the dress and it was just so comfortable – I know it’s going to be worn a lot this Summer! So what do you think of my Sears style? I challenge you to head out to Sears and see what fun Summer pieces you can find for your wardrobe! You can find Sears Style online, on Facebook and Twitter!

A Winter Wardrobe from Cookie’s Kids! #CookiesKids

Sean John Hoodies from Cookie's Kids Winter Wardrobe #CookiesKids

Hi friends! Is it cold where you live right now? Well guess what, we’re in sunny Phoenix, AZ and it is freezing this week! But thankfully this year we had the opportunity to shop at Cookie’s Kids to add the latest in Winter Fashion to our kids’ wardrobes!

CookiesKids.com is a Kid’s Department Store specializing in the latest in Kids Style and Kids Fashion, and this year they’re celebrating their 40th year in business! As a little sneak peak into their history, it all started out when a young man named Cookie and his brother Marvin went into business together. They rented a 1600 square foot store in Jamaica, Queens, fixed it up, bought inventory and Summer and Fall, and opened a day after Thanksgiving with a full stock of holiday toys. The toys were a success and they put the extra money toward buying children’s clothing for the next season. When that did well, they bought more clothing. The business was on it’s way. As the brothers Cookie, Marvin and Sonny, who had come in as a third partner in the business, began to open new stores in new locations, inventory expanded. Besides the latest fashions, our customers wanted shoes, toys, backpacks and accessories and we were prepared to deliver. By the late 1990′s there were six superstores throughout the NYC area, and though they previously had different names, by that time they were all named Cookie’s Kids. Also in the late ’90s came an important addition to Cookie’s Kids’ inventory: school uniforms. It was the steady success in uniform sales that paved the way for founding CookiesKids.com in 2007, which originally sold uniforms and soon after the entire Cookie’s Kids Inventory.

Today, Cookie’s Kids sells Kids Clothes from seven stores in the NYC area in Bronx, Brooklyn and Jamaica as well as online at CookiesKids.com. And we had the chance recently to shop their online store for some clothing for our little guys! The Cookie’s Kids site is just fabulous. I love the different ways you can navigate the site: you can search by gender, size, clothing type – it really is a great user experience! You can check out my personal shopping experience in my Cookie’s Kids Google+ Album! When I was searching for the clothing that would be a great compliment to my boys’ Winter clothes, I checked out Hoodies and was drawn to these adorable Sean John “Maxed” Sweatshirts! I was shopping in the 2T-4T Boys category and I noticed that they had my boys’ sizes in two different colors and I thought that would be so fun! You know as moms we LOVE to coordinate our kids’ clothes!

Sean John Maxed Sweatshirt 2T-4T #CookiesKids

So we ordered the sweatshirts at a great price and were so happy with what we received!

Sean John Hoodies from Cookie's Kids Winter Wardrobe #CookiesKids

The quality of the clothing is amazing. And the sweatshirts look just so cute on the boys, don’t you think?

Also when I was browsing around the site a little more, I noticed that Cookie’s Kids carries Baby Phat Clothing. Now as you can see I only have boys, but if I had a girl, this line is just too cute and sassy!

They also sell so many other items, such as toys and even the trendy and quality Northface Backpack! I’m definitely heading back here when it’s time for Back to School!

All in all, we were so happy with our experience at CookiesKids.com! Just look at those smiling faces! With quality selection,  fantastic prices and great shipping rates, how can you go wrong? You can check out what others are saying on the web by searching on #CookiesKids. I’m sure you’ll hear much of the same, great story! And you can also find Cookie’s Kids on Facebook and Twitter, to join their community!

{Friday Fancies} Road Trip

It’s Friday! You know what that means? It’s time for my Fun, Fashionable, Fancy Finds! How’s that alliteration for ya? This week’s theme is perfect for me since I, myself just got back from a road trip from Phoenix to Lake Tahoe. We took a beautiful scenic route and had a blast when we were there, even with two littles in the car. I’m all about the comfort: dresses and leggings, a sweater in case of a/c discrepancies, and easy on/off shoes!

{Friday Fancies} Summer Sunset

Welcome to this weeks Friday Fancies! When I was putting this weeks look together I decided to imagine the girl wearing it. The girl I imagined is tall, tan, and has long dark hair (so she pretty much looks nothing like me). She’s on vacation with her boyfriend at a resort overlooking the ocean. In this adorable and sexy outfit her and her boyfriend will walk to the beach to check out the sunset. He’ll carry her shoes as they walk along the waves. When they come back they will be engaged…

Robert Cavalli is one of my favorite high end designers. But being that the above shirt is over $1k this is outfit is totally not affordable.. I decided to put together a budget friendly and achievable summer sunset look as well!  No one piece in the look below is above $40! summer sunset 2

{What I Wore Wednesday} The Wedding Edition

What a FUN idea for an anniversary post! I’m linking up to What I Wore, Wedding Edition…an idea that Megan from Absolute Mommy came up with to celebrate her 7th wedding anniversary! And just how much fun is that? Now today, I’m only going to show you a few pictures of the wedding, focused mainly on “what I wore” because I’m planning on partying with Amber from Sneakers Over Stilettos in June for a similar anniversary party, since my wedding anniversary also happens to be in June! Stay tuned and I’ll keep you posted on when that fun post is up!
Ohhhhhh…how I LOVED this dress! I was fortunate that one of my best friend’s mother owned a lovely little  bridal boutique, called Magic Wand Bridal, at the time. I started out there, tried on every different style imaginable until I figured out I wanted a strapless dress. I then went to a large boutique in downtown Phoenix to try every designer imaginable in that style. I wanted a big Cinderella ballgown, but when I tried them on, they swallowed me up. I guess this 5’3″ frame wasn’t meant to be in a ballgown. Then I cam across this beauty. Simple, elegant, and a modified sweetheart neckline that I just adored. I guess like they say, you just know when you see it.
|| The Shoes :: Liz Rene Couture – Angelina ||
The shoes, also perfect! I chose the Liz Rene – Anglina in a mid-heel in ivory. I didn’t want much of a heel for both comfort and to not make me too tall. My husband is taller than me (not hard to do), but I wanted to make sure that our true height was shown in pictures, not me being close to his height.
|| The Bouquet :: Kabloom ||
Well I heard that this lovely little flower shop closed, and it’s just too bad. My friend Rebecca and I visited some fancy shmancy (yes, that’s a word) florists who wanted to charge thousands of dollars to pull off what we had in mind. However, we took those ideas to Kabloom and they were able to pull it off for half the price of what others were quoting. And the flowers were beautiful! My bouquet had white mini calla lilies, Eskimo ivory roses, green cymbidium, and sage green seeded eucalyptus berries as accents.

|| The Tiara & Veil :: Magic Wand Bridal ||
Once I had the dress and shoes, I moved on to what I was going to wear with it. During my first fitting at Magic Wand Bridal, I tried on a few different tiaras and veils that she had in stock. It was really the best way for me to find the combination that I loved. My hair was done by one of my best friends and forever-stylist Ambre. If you’re in the Phoenix area ladies, she works at the Dolce at Borgata in Scottsdale and is amazing! And finally the earrings I found at Dillards and were really the only jewelry other than my rings that I chose to wear.

It was a lovely and memorable day, and it was so fun to share a part of it with you! I’m looking forward to sharing more in June…stay tuned!

Spring 2012 – Switch & Ditch Party

Yesterday I had a few friends to my home to participate in a fun new event that my friend hosts, called Switch & Ditch. The idea is for each participant to collect ten items, clothing, shoes or accessories, that they no longer want, bring to the party and in return choose up to 10 items from among items that the other participants have brought to take home. Thus, switch and ditch. At the end of the party, if there are items remaining, a generous donation is made to a local charity. In this case we chose to donate to Fresh Start, an organization that assists women with the tools and means to gainful employment.

Here’s a little snapshot of our fun party…

If you’re local to the Phoenix area, my friend Jackie of JackieStyle is an Image Consultant who offers many image services such as personal shopping, wardrobing, skin analysis and makeup instruction. Go check out her site HERE!

ALSO! I’m planning to have another one of these fun parties closer to the summer! If you’re in the Phoenix area and are interested in attending, just send me a note or leave a comment and I will be sure to provide you with the details!
