{Thrifty Thursday} Dollar Store Royal-Tee T-Shirt Stamp

Dollar Store Royal-Tee T-Shirt Stamp Hi friends! It’s Thrifty Thursday and today we’re talking about a quick and easy “Royal-Tee” T-Shirt Stamp you can make from Dollar Store supplies! I love the “royal” theme in clothing, decor – really anything. So when I saw these crown foam shapes at the Dollar Store I knew that I had to come up with something fun to do with them. So I made little “Royal-Tees” for my little guys. I originally shared this craft over at Lil Luna, but thought you might enjoy it here as well!

What you’ll need:

  • Plain white tee
  • Crown foam shapes
  • Tacky glue
  • Fabric paint
  • Box or some type of base for stamp

And the steps:

  1. You’ll want to start out by gluing several of the foam shapes together with glue until you have the decent thickness for the stamp (I glued four of the crowns together).
  2. Once dry, glue the foam shapes onto a box or base for your stamp.
  3. Once that’s dry, simply dip the stamp into fabric paint and place where you want onto the t-shirt.

How to make a Dollar Store Royal-Tee T-Shirt Stamp

Let the shirt dry – and voila! Your very own “Royal Tee!” Now these little shirts are perfect for the princes in my life – but I know my Dollar Store had little tiara shapes as well. And those would make some cute princess tees, don’t you think?

Kids Craft Ideas – Owl Painting Activity

Kids Craft Ideas - an Easy Owl Painting Activity at { anightowlblog.com } #kids #activities #owls

Hi friends – Kendall here from Songbirds & Buttons, a new Mommy Contributor at A Night Owl! Today I’m sharing a fun and easy kids craft idea – an Owl Painting Activity! In our house, we love to paint. It doesn’t even matter what it is. Just getting out our tub of multicolored goodies (paint) and being able to play around with the different brushes is a celebration all in itself for us.

What you’ll need:

  • Ceramic Animal – We got our owl from Michaels. They also had small birds, dogs, and other ceramics to paint. The owl was under $5!
  • Paint – Any kind will do – use what you have in your craft closet.
  • Paint brushes, sponges, or just your fingers – whatever works for you :)
  • A large sheet to lay down before painting. Believe me, this will be a lifesaver for you!

And the steps:

  • Paint the ceramic figure a solid color – I used a light blue paint that we had left over from a previous project.
  • Get out your paints + supplies and let your little one have fun and be creative
  • Oh, and don’t forget the most important part – when you’re done – make sure to take a nice big bubble bath to clean up!
  • Momma tip: Assist when you need to – but don’t try to do things for them. I held the owl for Wyatt to paint when he was having trouble reaching the spots that he wanted. If you try to do things for them, they will lose interest.

So what do you think? It’s so cute and special, because our little one made it. And it was a great activity for us to work on together. What kind of crafts do you like to do with your little ones?

XO,

{14 Days of Valentines} Children’s Valentine’s Day Painting

Children's Valentine's Day Painting by Songbirds & Buttons
Hi friends! My name is Kendall and I blog over at Songbirds and Buttons! Today I am sharing with you an easy and fun Valentine’s Day Painting that you can do with your little one! We are making them this year as gifts :) I love the holidays, I love decorating, but most of all I love doing craft projects with my son, Wyatt. This is the first time that we’ve done this project – but it definitely won’t be the last!

What you’ll need:

  • Canvas
  • Paint brush
  • Sponge Brush
  • 3 different paint colors
  • sharpie marker

And the steps:

  1. Use your sponge brush to paint the background of your canvas. (You can use a regular brush if you’d like – but the sponge brush is faster).
  2. Let canvas dry for an hour.
  3. Fold a piece of craft paper in half, cut out a heart, and then use washi tape to adhere the paper to your canvas. Washi tape doesn’t stick – and I try to use what I have for projects.
  4. Use your second color to paint inside of your cutout – it helps if you have a little one to do some of the muscle work :)
  5. Peel the paper cutout off of your canvas to reveal a beautiful heart!
  6. Use your third paint to let your little one have some fun! Let them put their hands in it and play around – then – when they’re ready – help them to press their hand on the canvas in the center of the heart.
  7. Write a special message – or just their name and the date so you’ll always remember.

A Winter Wardrobe from Cookie’s Kids! #CookiesKids

Sean John Hoodies from Cookie's Kids Winter Wardrobe #CookiesKids

Hi friends! Is it cold where you live right now? Well guess what, we’re in sunny Phoenix, AZ and it is freezing this week! But thankfully this year we had the opportunity to shop at Cookie’s Kids to add the latest in Winter Fashion to our kids’ wardrobes!

CookiesKids.com is a Kid’s Department Store specializing in the latest in Kids Style and Kids Fashion, and this year they’re celebrating their 40th year in business! As a little sneak peak into their history, it all started out when a young man named Cookie and his brother Marvin went into business together. They rented a 1600 square foot store in Jamaica, Queens, fixed it up, bought inventory and Summer and Fall, and opened a day after Thanksgiving with a full stock of holiday toys. The toys were a success and they put the extra money toward buying children’s clothing for the next season. When that did well, they bought more clothing. The business was on it’s way. As the brothers Cookie, Marvin and Sonny, who had come in as a third partner in the business, began to open new stores in new locations, inventory expanded. Besides the latest fashions, our customers wanted shoes, toys, backpacks and accessories and we were prepared to deliver. By the late 1990′s there were six superstores throughout the NYC area, and though they previously had different names, by that time they were all named Cookie’s Kids. Also in the late ’90s came an important addition to Cookie’s Kids’ inventory: school uniforms. It was the steady success in uniform sales that paved the way for founding CookiesKids.com in 2007, which originally sold uniforms and soon after the entire Cookie’s Kids Inventory.

Today, Cookie’s Kids sells Kids Clothes from seven stores in the NYC area in Bronx, Brooklyn and Jamaica as well as online at CookiesKids.com. And we had the chance recently to shop their online store for some clothing for our little guys! The Cookie’s Kids site is just fabulous. I love the different ways you can navigate the site: you can search by gender, size, clothing type – it really is a great user experience! You can check out my personal shopping experience in my Cookie’s Kids Google+ Album! When I was searching for the clothing that would be a great compliment to my boys’ Winter clothes, I checked out Hoodies and was drawn to these adorable Sean John “Maxed” Sweatshirts! I was shopping in the 2T-4T Boys category and I noticed that they had my boys’ sizes in two different colors and I thought that would be so fun! You know as moms we LOVE to coordinate our kids’ clothes!

So we ordered the sweatshirts at a great price and were so happy with what we received!

The quality of the clothing is amazing. And the sweatshirts look just so cute on the boys, don’t you think?

Also when I was browsing around the site a little more, I noticed that Cookie’s Kids carries Baby Phat Clothing. Now as you can see I only have boys, but if I had a girl, this line is just too cute and sassy!

They also sell so many other items, such as toys and even the trendy and quality Northface Backpack! I’m definitely heading back here when it’s time for Back to School!

All in all, we were so happy with our experience at CookiesKids.com! Just look at those smiling faces! With quality selection,  fantastic prices and great shipping rates, how can you go wrong? You can check out what others are saying on the web by searching on #CookiesKids. I’m sure you’ll hear much of the same, great story! And you can also find Cookie’s Kids on Facebook and Twitter, to join their community!
