Spiderman Birthday Party

Spiderman Birthday Party by { anightowlblog.com } #spiderman #birthday #party

Hi friends! In the midst of all the St. Patrick’s Day and Easter decor, crafts and projects I’m finally sharing my son’s Spiderman Birthday Party! Now I love throwing kid’s birthday parties. Each time one of ours comes around my husband says “now why can’t we just go to Peter Piper?” And I say because hosting them at home is so much more festive and fun. Then the madness begins…party decor, food and events. And sure I take pictures, but then I’m so exhausted by the end that it takes me, well months, to turn around and share with you! But eventually I do, so if you’d like to go back and take a look, our Sesame Street Birthday Party and Cars Birthday Party have been quite popular!

So our little man turned 2 in December! And let me tell you, he’s obsessed with Spiderman. It’s quite hilarious actually. I think the Spiderman shirt you’ll see in the pictures below is the most-washed article of clothing in our house because he wants to wear it every.single.day! So that was the obvious theme for his party. So the Pinterest and Etsy research begun. That’s when I came across this ADORABLE Spiderman Comic Invitation by Embellished Designs on Etsy! Stefani of Embellished Designs has some of the cutest invitations around! I was so excited once I found this one, I knew it was perfect for our party.

Now to the party! First up was our stock-party decor: fun streamers to the ceiling! Add a birthday cake, cupcakes, snacks and goodies!

My Mom made her famous Honey Caramel Corn (I think that was the party favorite, check out the recipe) and who doesn’t love some red vines?

And the goody baskets were chock full of Spiderman goodness: crayons, PEZ dispensers and toys!

Then on to the cake. Isn’t it cute? Well I have a secret – it’s store-bought! I simply purchased a red velvet cake from Walmart, covered it with Wilton Red Color Mist and drew a spider web on top with Wilton Black Icing!

Spiderman Birthday Cake by { anightowlblog.com } #spiderman #birthday #party

And the cupcakes were more store-bought goodness from Sam’s Club (hey, it was the week before Christmas and this momma needed some help). But how adorable are they? And I love that the toppers are rings – the kids all really enjoyed having those to take home.

Now what party is a party without photo props? I snagged these fun Spiderman paper masks from Walmart and whipped up some cute comic speech bubbles.

Little man was so happy with his party. He absolutely loved everyone singing Happy Birthday. You can see by the smile on his face.

Now once it was time for Little Man to break into his smash cake, he wouldn’t even touch it without a fork. How funny is that?

All in all it was a great day. I know Little Man had a great day and I hope you enjoyed our little recap of his Spiderman Birthday Party!

{Thrifty Thursday} Tips to Save this Superbowl Sunday

Fun tips on how to save money planning a party for Superbowl Sunday! { anightowlblog.com } #ThriftyThursday #Superbowl #Party

Hi friends! We’re running Thrifty Thursday a little differently today. Yes, Goodwill is still involved in a FUN way! But today we’re focusing primarily on how to save money when planning the BIG PARTY on Sunday – yes, the Superbowl! Now football is HUGE in my household and especially because my husband’s favorite team is in the running this year (go Niners!), I’m getting things ready! But I sure like to do things in the most cost-effective way, so here are a few party-planning, thrifty tips!

Shop the Dollar Store for Superbowl Sunday! { anightowlblog.com } #ThriftyThursday #Superbowl #Party

Tip #1 – Shop the Dollar Store! I don’t know about your local Dollar Store – but my Dollar Tree every year around this time has FUN football party items! Plates, cups, napkins…even fun goodies for the kids! You can even think outside of the box – right now there are a ton of St. Patrick’s Day items too, which are the perfect shade of football field green (like the scarf in my picture)!

Shop clearance items year-round for Superbowl Sunday! { anightowlblog.com } #ThriftyThursday #Superbowl #Party

Tip #2 – Shop Clearance! If you’re like me, you KNOW you’re going to have a Superbowl party every year. So a few months ago when I was at everyone’s favorite store – TARGET – I found a TON of awesome football party supplies: streamers, picks, straws and straws – all for pocket change! So of course I snagged them up and stored them for a couple of months and just broke them out this week. So fun and I know I got a screamin’ deal.

Make some DIY Decor for Superbowl Sunday! { anightowlblog.com } #ThriftyThursday #Superbowl #Party

Tip #3 – DIY Some Super Decor! Earlier this week I shared with you my Easy Football Field Party Table that I made with $4 worth of felt, some white masking tape and some numbers. And it was a hit! Add in some homemade football bunting and you’re ready to go. All for a few bucks.

Use free printables for Superbowl Sunday! { anightowlblog.com } #ThriftyThursday #Superbowl #Party

Tip #4 – Use Free Printables! There area  TON of them out there, from wrappers to boxes to toppers! Shop around on Pinterest and you’re sure to find just what you need. I’ve pinned a few of my FAVORITE printables on our Football Pinterest Board!

Shop your home for Superbowl Sunday! { anightowlblog.com } #ThriftyThursday #Superbowl #Party

Tip #5 – Shop Your Home! Lucky for me I have a huge sports fanatic in the home, so finding footballs and jerseys and 49ers memorabilia is so very easy. So if you’re in the same boat, walk around your house and pick up football or sports related items to complement your party’s decor! It really adds a fun and personal touch. That’s exactly what Lisa from The Goodwill Gal and Popcorn Served Daily did to update her Goodwill hutch for the big day. And remember I told you I had something FUN to share? Well Lisa shared this fabulous video with me earlier this week – Superbowl Decorating Ideas! And today she’s allowing me to share it with all of you! Take a quick peak and if you like what you see, be sure to subscribe to her channel. She’s a wealth of thrifty, but fabulous, decor and party ideas!

Well I hope you enjoyed the tips! I’m getting things ready for the big day and will have some fun things to share with you on Monday, the day after, so be sure to check back!

Easy Football Field Party Table

Easy Football Field Party Table by { anightowlblog.com }

Hi friends! Are you ready for some football? My husband is a HUGE 49ers fan, so we’re getting ready for the Superbowl in our home! We have a big party every year – and last year I shared a quick recap of the party here. I showed you this fun table I put together, but didn’t share the specifics! And since I know many of you are looking for some quick and easy Superbowl party ideas, I thought I’d share!

I originally saw the idea of a football field table on Pinterest of all things, shocker I know. It was pinned from Counting it All Joy. I made a few modifications and here are the steps…

What you’ll need:

  • Green felt (enough to cover your table surface)
  • White duct tape
  • White vinyl
  • Silhouette or pre-cut numbers

And the steps:

  • Simply cover the table surface with the green felt (I purchased mine from Hobby Lobby with 40% off coupon, with measurements for my kitchen island), and tape it down to secure.
  • Mark off where you want the yardlines for your football field and use white duct tape to create the line.
  • Cut yardline “numbers” out of white vinyl with your Silhouette or something similar. If you don’t have a machine you could buy pre-cut numbers or trace and cut them out by hand.
  • Stick the numbers down around the duct tape lines.

And you’re done! So easy, but oh so cute!

I also created some EASY football bunting with simple brown triangles and white laces…

I love how it turned out! It was the hit of the party – and probably the part that I spent the least time on – don’t you love when that happens? I hope you give it a try this year! I can’t wait to see all of the fun parties.

Keurig Vue House Party

Ok, so I missed National Coffee Day by one day! But here’s a little catch-up just in time for those who are still celebrating this Sunday morning with a cup of joe. Last weekend I had the opportunity to host a Keurig Vue House Party! In exchange for hosting the party, I received a Keurig Vue machine, their latest and greatest in coffee brewing innovation, along with coffees and teas for my guests to sample. The machine is beautiful and makes great coffee! As an owner, and lover, of the last Keurig machine I have to say I’m impressed with the changes they’ve made.

And no coffee party is complete without some goodies, right? Each guest got to grab a mug with a chalkboard label to write their name. And there were tons of sweets and snacks to be had.

The coffee bar was equipped with sugar, sweetner, three kinds of syrups, hand-stamped stir sticks, and creamer.

If you’re ooooh-ing over the cute little banners and cupcake toppers, I will refer you to Dawn of LeroyLime. She makes the most adorable party supplies! I HIGHLY recommend!

And last, but not least, were my lovely guests. Some of these gals you may recognize: Vanessa from See Vanessa Craft, Laura from Pink Cake Plate, Cindy from Jenkins Kid Farm, and my buddies and contributors Jen and Rachel from Just Us Three Design. Also so thankful that my gal pals Kari and Becky could make it. Such a great time of “girl chat”! Some of gals weren’t even coffee drinkers but stopped by for support. Too sweet!

Well it was a great time and I have to say I’ve been enjoying the machine ever since!

{Birthday Bash} A Sesame Street Party

Hi friends and welcome to Day 5 of the Birthday Bash! If you’re visiting for the first time today, my birthday happens to be TOMORROW, so we’re sharing some fabulous parties by A Night Owl Contributors! We’ll also wrap up the week with a Birthday Bash Favorite Things Giveaway! So party along with us this week and be sure to come back tomorrow to enter this fun giveaway!

At 1 year old, one of the main things that my youngest son, Alex, identified with was Sesame Street and Elmo! So a Sesame Street themed party was a perfect fit. There were many fun aspects to this party. First up, I changed up our entryway mantel with some Sesame Street and birthday fun! I did a fairly simply and easy subway print in the party colors and made an Elmo wreath (just yarn wrapped, with 2′ white and orange cardstock circles, large black sequins for pupils)! Then I framed a portion of Alexander’s invitation as well as printed a larger version of the picture that was on his invite. One of my favorite aspects of the party were the ADORABLE Sesame Street goody buckets that the kids got to take home. I purchased the blue, red and green buckets from the dollar section of Target. I then used a 2′ circle punch to make circles for eyes, noses, and cookies. I found good-sized black sequins at Hobby Lobby that I used for pupils. Lastly I created a template from a picture online to cut out Oscar’s furry eyebrows. I simply glued those pieces in place, and voila! Sesame Street goody buckets. Party games! We had them all: Oscar’s Trash Toss, Pin the Nose on Elmo, and How Many Cookies in Cookie Monster’s Jar? And the cake! Though we had a ton of cupcakes (again, thanks to my Mom), I made a simple round “smash” cake for Alex. And who else should it be than Mr. Cookie Monster?

It was a great time and a great theme for a 1-year old’s party! I hope you enjoyed getting a glimpse.

{Birthday Bash} A Cars Party

Well it’s been months since my oldest’s 3rd birthday party. But with the help of ANO contributor Rachel, I finally got what few pictures I took of the party into collages to share with you all! I purchased a printable package from the Wants and Wishes Shop, but other than that, everything else was DIY. I created VIP passes as invitations that the kids got to wear at the party. I created a little photobooth equipped with a “Greetings from Radiator Springs” sign, mustaches and checkered flags. There were also “Mater Teeth” which are not shown, to protect the innocent. Though I have to say those were a big hit! I updated our mantel with a party printable, a picture of AJ and his name and the number 3. The cupcakes were made by my Mother and were so delicious! My Mom also scoured the Valley for Cars favors, each take home bag was packed to the brim with Cars crayons, toys, Pez, and other candy! Lastly, the racetrack was the hit of the party. Hand crafted by “Papa” (my Dad) the kids spent a majority of their time racing their new Hotwheels down the track.

Oh, and as “thank you” cards from the party, I sent out a copy of the photobooth pictures to each guest through Postagram. I thought it would be a fun souvenir from the party! It was a great time, and I hope you enjoyed the pictures!

{Birthday Bash} A Bookworm Party

When planning my daughter’s birthday party we knew the theme had to be BOOKS! The girl is OBSESSED! I’m secretly hoping she always keeps her nose planted in a good book as she gets older. Anyways lots of love went into all the party details; from a massive tissue paper pom bookworm to quotes like “There is more treasure in books than all the pirate loot on Treasure Island” gracing our walls. With a serious love for books I had SO MUCH fun with this party. For additional party details visit us at Harding Happenings.

When I found out I was having a second son I decided almost immediately that I was going to do the lil man mustache/tie 1st birthday party that I was seeing in the blogosphere! I had been collecting ideas and mustache items as well as ties for months before the party! I even had a newborn photo taken of him in a tie to use for the party (I’m crazy, I know) I had SUCH a great time putting this party together for my lil man!

I really wanted a bold color pallet. I LOVE lime green and teal and thought adding red with a black background would make for some fun!

Mostly everything you see was DIY. For larger photos of this party visit Life According to the Streets. To see the cute monthly photos I put together for the birthday boy visit HERE. To get your hands on the adorable mustache combs I gave away as favors visit Cowboy Comb.

{Birthday Bash} A Toy Story Party

Hi friends and welcome to the Birthday Bash! My birthday happens to be this week, so I thought it would be fun this week to showcase some of my favorite birthday parties that A Night Owl Contributors and myself have thrown, and wrap up the week with a Birthday Bash Favorite Things Giveaway! So party along with us this week and be sure to come back Friday to enter this fun giveaway!

If you know my son, you know he is a HUGE fan of anything Toy Story, so it was the obvious choice for his 2nd birthday party theme! I thought about going the more abstract route of spaceships and cowboy hats but he lights up when he sees the actual characters so I just went for it!

I had so much creating this party for my lil Toy Story fan! For full party details visit my original post at Life According to the Streets.

{Party Rock} A Superbowl Soiree

On Sunday we had a few friends over to watch the Superbowl. Now I love any reason to throw a good party. And with my new trusty friend, the Silhouette Cameo, I was able to make a few more things on my own than normal!

I originally saw the idea of a football field table on Pinterest of all things, shocker I know. It was pinned from Counting it All Joy.

Such a great idea, so I gave it a try…I also added in some homemade football bunting!

And now for the food and drinks! We served enchilada casserole, carne asada and all the fixings for some yummy burritos. That’s Superbowl – Arizona style! Add in a trio of cheesy dip, bean dip, and guacamole and you have all you need for a bowl of tortilla chips. Don’t forget the treats! We had chocolate covered football pretzels, brownies, cookies, lemon bars, and strawberry shortcake!

Last but not least, the drinks! I did a take on the famous No Biggie The Best Party Punchand added a little football flair to bottles of water.

It was a fantastic time! Though I didn’t see much of the game and ended up re-watching most of the commercials today (loved the Fiat, Doritos, and M&Ms commercials). Thanks to all my friends who brought yummy items over. I’m still stuffed!
